Exeter University Library: HMML Repository

Exeter University Library

The Bridgettine community at Syon Abbey was founded in the early 15th c. and closed in the 16th c. The community did not disband, but moved into exile from which it returned to England in 1861. HMML filmed 55 manuscripts, dating from the 15th to the 20th c. Among these were 20th-c. manuscripts from Canon John Rory Fletcher which provide historical information on the abbey. Today the manuscript collection is kept at the University of Exeter library.
